Lyn Freeman, Ph.D., LPC
Lyn Freeman is a behavioral medicine treatment specialist, program developer, researcher and consultant in integrative and behavioral medicine interventions as treatment for cancer and chronic disease. She is the President of Mind Matters Research LLC, an Alaskan-based research and behavioral medicine treatment center.
Between 2004 and 2011, Dr. Freeman was principle investigator for two National Cancer Institute-funded studies. These studies utilized behavioral medicine and imagery-based strategies to reduce cancer treatment symptoms and improve quality of life in breast cancer survivors. The imagery Intervention produced clinically significant outcomes in multiple domains. (Freeman, et al.,2014, Psycho-Oncology). Upon completion of the clinical trials, the National Cancer Institute directed Dr. Freeman to make the intervention available to the public. Dr. Freeman has recently adapted this protocol to treat other chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, pain and disease-related anxiety, depression and PTSD).
Dr. Freeman has authored academic textbooks, chapters and medical manuals on the evidence, benefits and limitations of behavioral, mind-body and integrative medicine practices. Her Mosby academic textbook was nominated for Health Sciences Book of the Year.
